From Buryat Forest to Xuzhou, a new route of timber rail transport has been successfully set up. This was the first train shipped with timber from Ulan Ude to Xuzhou, the wood industry center of East China per Chinese media report. There are more than 100 wood processing enterprises importing about 3 million cubic meters of wood from Russia and Europe every year.

As reported that this establishment can greatly save the logistics cost and time for Xuzhou wood enterprises. It provides great convenience for enterprises to "go out" to participate in global market.

“We hope, through the operation, to export the commodities of regions in Xuzhou, Huaihai, Shandong and Jiangsu to Russia, and meanwhile to import timber, agricultural products and livestock from Russia back to China”. Taking Xuzhou as the distribution center is to well connect to the regions of Huaihai, Shandong and Jiangsu. By taking the China strategy of "One Belt One Road", Xuzhou for sure can be better promoted as the export-oriented centre.

In the early days it took around 70 days by road and sea from Russia to Xuzhou. Now the total time has been reduced by two third, and the total cost of each cubic meter had been saved by RMB 100.  "It would save one million RMB for majority wood processing enterprises a year" according to the publication of "All Business with China."

This rail route will run regularly. It plans to increase the number of trains up to 300 between China and Russia to expand the import and export for both countries.
